[vc_column_text]Ministry to the Sick is a pastoral ministry of caring for those people hospitalized, in nursing homes, or confined to private homes.

This ministry is provided by trained and certified lay men and women, ordained deacons, vowed religious sisters and brothers, and priests within the Diocese of Orlando. These ministers are trained and formed to conduct a pastoral visit with time to listen and pray about the concerns of the sick or shut-in person and to share Eucharist with them. The Secretariat for Laity, Family and Life coordinates this ministry in the Diocese, provides initial certification training and continued education programs.

Ministers must be fingerprinted through the Diocese and trained in the Ministry to the Sick program.

We meet on an as needed basis. We try to meet al least once a year as a total group for general info, sharing of experiences and to discuss problems and do training with special guest speakers who add insight for us to do our job better. Individually we also meet daily, weekly and monthly to discuss scheduling and coverage as the needs arise to be sure we all are informed and how best meet the needs of our patients and ministers to get things done in a timely fashion. This is usually achieved before or after daily Mass at 8:15AM.
